About Jane

Jane Lusby-Lawrence was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia. Much of her early imagery was influenced by the Tantramar marshes that surround the town of Amherst. Having also lived in Medicine Hat, Alberta, western landscape has been a favourite subject.

Lusby-Lawrence now resides near Kemble, Ontario where she maintains a studio practice. The medium which Jane uses are oils and mixed media and much of her work deals with landscape or non-representational abstract pieces. She finds it a refreshing change to move between various media and also works with imagery that is both abstract and representational. Through simplification of forms her paintings evoke an elemental and poetic quality.

Jane received a B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of Windsor, Ontario and an M.A. in Fine Arts from Bob Jones University, Greenville, South Carolina. Her paintings have been exhibited across Canada and in the U.S.A.
